- Dear fellow Mississippians,
-
- Access to high-speed Internet is a critical issue for our state. Broadband technology benefits students who learn more in the classroom, quickly connects first responders in emergencies and helps businesses grow in the 21st century– putting more Mississippians to work.
Mississippi is taking the necessary steps to bring broadband technology to all corners of our state. We have exciting and innovative projects underway to accomplish our goal.
We currently are mapping the broadband capabilities of our communities, which will serve as a blueprint for improving our technology infrastructure. Very soon, we will begin upgrading our Mississippi Wireless Information Network to enable the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, law enforcement and fire and medical personnel to share important data, such as patient medical information in emergencies, and communicate securely and consistently in disaster situations.
We have great plans for Mississippi’s technology future. Please check this Web page frequently for updates on our projects. -
- Sincerely,
-
- Haley Barbour
